Human beings naturally respond to shape, light and texture at the most fundamental levels. Through my work, I hope to create places where people have remarkable experiences.
While attending architecture school at Cal-Berkeley, I studied under Christopher Alexander and the “Pattern Language” team, where I gained a deep respect for the timeless principles of design. I believe the process leads to the product, so I collaborate closely with the client and the builder throughout to draw forth the best design possible.
After traveling extensively and working in architectural firms, I opened Richard Stein Design in 1985. After twenty-eight years, I still love what I do! Every day I look forward to creating beautiful places that connect us to the Light, to Nature, and to our own Spirit.
